I didn’t do extensive testing afterwards but it seemed to eliminate the load spikes (or maybe whatever was triggering the spikes had stopped after I made the change). I’ve installed some systems with the same driver and newer distributions/kernels and this didn’t seem to be necessary so maybe the driver defaults have been improved or this was some driver bug. Are you experiencing similar problems?

At the beginning of the article you mention load spike. Did the changes resolve this, or simply limit the number of errors you see in the logs?
